Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) and CESA Information Session hosted in November

On behalf of Infrastructure South Africa (ISA), CESA invited Consulting Engineering companies, Built Environment Professionals and Private Sector Clients of such Professional Service Providers to an information session where ISA staff shared the broader role it has in unblocking the pipeline of infrastructure projects, both in the public and in the private sector.

This information session’s aim was to provide further information on how the process works and evidence on where it has been implemented and is working. The ultimate objective of this session was to encourage many more Private Sector entities along with their Built Environment Professional Service Providers, to consider using the facilitative role that ISA can play in respect of policy and other regulatory compliance.

Welcoming attendees and introducing speakers was CESA CEO Chris Campbell who played the facilitator role on the day. Campbell stated, “We can assist Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) with their broad role which is often not understood”. The first speaker on the day was Secondee to ISA, Peter Gent who stated the purpose of his presentation was to make the private sector aware of the service provided by ISA in the development of public or private infrastructure, which supports the National Infrastructure Plan (NIP2050).

Nqabakazi Tetyana, Infrastructure Specialist at ISA also joined in the discussion. In her presentation, Tetyana stated, “Policy Unblockings can take a long period of time, require detailed engagement at government executive level, are negotiated among several departments, and are approved by Cabinet or relevant ministers”. Tetyana further stated that ISA strives to provide practical support to private sector infrastructure investment initiatives which support the NIP2050, by assisting companies to unblock impediments to processes and approvals required within government.

There was a lively discussion where attendees were given an opportunity to engage with the presenters who provided further clarity.
