Introduction to the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is a concept that has gained great momentum and refers to the convergence of multiple technologies and the disruptive effect it will have on all spheres of business.

Several of these technologies straddle physical, digital, and biological fields and convergence of these fields are the foundation of many of the disruptive forces in every industry. It will also have a deep impact on society as a whole, with the creation of new jobs and careers and the elimination of others. Every employee across all levels will either bear the brunt of its negative impact or alternatively embrace it as a tool for management and growth.

Why Should an Individual Attend?

As a delegate, you will be able to understand the elements of the 4IR and how it can apply to your work environment. The extent of its impact on your industry or workplace needs to be anticipated since many of the disruptions will come from different industries that you will most likely be unfamiliar with, e.g., blockchain on supply chain management, or additive manufacturing in automobile production, or IoT in safety management.

Many companies recognise the overarching impact of  4IR and have placed this on their strategic agenda and are adopting positions to meet its challenges or exploit its advantages. However, employees who are unaware of 4IR will be unprepared to anticipate its impact both in their work and individual capacities.

This course will unpack the major technologies underlying the 4IR while examining its impacts on the different parts of business including HR, operations, society, finance, supply chain and IT.

Delegates will gain a general understanding of the elements of 4IR to determine threats and opportunities for your company/industry.
