As the year draws to a close, I would like to start by acknowledging the various Board Members, Committee members and Branch Chairs who provide the support that they do in ensuring that we remain the apex organisation for the Consulting Engineering Industry, recognised not only locally but across Africa and the globe. This of course is ably driven by a dedicated team of people in the Directorate who equally need to be acknowledged. We are constantly reminded that without you, our member companies volunteering some of your key staff to participate in the various Committees, none of what we do would be possible and for this we laud you for your commitment.

At CESA’s 66th Annual General Meeting held in Johannesburg on Wednesday the 25th November, Sugen Pillay from Zitholele Consulting was inaugurated as our new President for the next two years, succeeding Neresh Pather. He accepted the position stating, “It is certainly an honour and a privilege to serve in this position”.

CESA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on the 27th November 2019 where inter alia the following transpired.

The CESA SAIEE Young Professionals Energy + Innovation Summit was hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday, 29 November. Themed ‘An African Future: Youth driving energy and technological innovation on the continent’, the summit was one of the breakaway sessions at the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) National Conference. It brought together seasoned industry experts, young professionals and students who engaged in the interactive session proudly sponsored by Old Mutual.

The CESA Presidential Golf Challenge that took place on Thursday, 10 October 2019 at Randpark Golf Club was once again a huge success. CESA would like to thank all member firms that participated in helping to achieve yet another successful Golf Challenge. It was an exceptionally successful day and this success was achieved due to support from members, clients and suppliers to the Industry.
