Young Professionals
Outstanding Inaugral YPF Sustainability Imbizo
The Future of Engineering is Definitely in Good Hands

The inaugural Young Professionals Imbizo
highlighted the fact that we have capable future
leaders that will be good ambassadors for this
noble profession. Thank you to all of the Young
Professionals, Sponsors and Speakers that
participated in this very successful event for their
passion and enthusiasm in ensuring constructive
engagement on pertinent issues. Naren Bhojaram,
in his speech challenged young professionals to
apply their minds in ensuring that they become a
force to be reckoned with instead of just being a
Forum. He suggested they consider converting
their Forums into an action group, where young
professionals air their views about issues affecting
the industry even if it means that they write to the
President of South Africa, President of FIDIC or the
President of CESA to ensure their ‘voice’ is heard.

Imbizo Empowers Young Professinals

The Imbizo aimed at empowering Young
Professionals with best leadership practice
embracing leading in general as community Likhaya Nkonki (YPF Chairperson)
activists and leading as professionals as
engineering activists. The second objective aimed
at establishing and maintaining structures, some
may call it a platform for collective effort, for
YPs to be role models for school learners and to
encourage senior infrastructure professionals, the
majority being engineers, to mentor YPs. The third
objective of the Imbizo was to provide solutions to
skills development and retention, by both the public
and private sectors. Without engineering skills there
will be no provision of water, housing or roads, only
increased poverty, inequality and unemployment.
