Driving Sustainable Infrastructure through Collaborative Leadership: Highlights from the CESA Mpumalanga Branch Function 2024

Our Mpumalanga Branch Function, held on 27 August 2024 at The Capital Mbombela, was a success. Our CESA Mpumalanga Branch Chairperson and Managing Director of Lubisi Consulting, Chalmers Pagiwa served as MC and delivered the welcome address.

Our President and MD at BVi Consulting Engineers, David Leukes gave a compelling address on “A Call for Diverse and Collaborative Leadership – Stronger Together to Secure a Sustainable Future for All.” He highlighted infrastructure challenges in Mpumalanga and urged local authorities to collaborate with consulting engineers to bridge gaps and improve service delivery. Leukes also stressed the importance of prioritising renewable energy projects, especially solar, for state-owned facilities, and reiterated our commitment to fighting corruption while strengthening governance and financial management within local administrations.

The event included presentations by Lore Manonyane, Director of Infrastructure at Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury, on infrastructure funding trends, and Edwin Baloyi, Director at Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads, and Transport, on best practices and solutions.

The session concluded with a Q&A, including feedback on national issues from our CEO, Chris Campbell, and closing remarks from Jaco Potgieter – Director, NKP Consulting Engineers. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a productive and engaging event.
