Strengthening South Africa’s Consulting Engineering Presence at Home and Abroad

Over the past nine months, we have significantly strengthened our presence and influence, both locally and internationally. Through active participation in high-level platforms such as the B20, G20, and the FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference (GIC), we have positioned South Africa’s consulting engineering sector on the global stage. These engagements have not only raised our profile as a trusted representative of the industry but have also opened doors to new partnerships, collaboration opportunities, and greater visibility for our members.

At the recent FIDIC GIC, we were encouraged by the strong interest shown in our School of Consulting Engineering (SCE). Delegates from across the world expressed admiration for how the SCE is structured and managed, and many were eager to learn more about our model. This international recognition reaffirms the importance of our investment in developing skills and capacity for the profession.

In addition, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild (ICEG) of Ukraine. This agreement paves the way for collaboration between South African and Ukrainian companies in support of recovery and reconstruction efforts, further extending the reach and impact of our industry. Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on enhancing visibility for our members. Initiatives such as our upcoming Townhall – details will be shared with members in due course – will provide a platform to engage, share insights, and promote the vital role consulting engineers play in shaping South Africa’s future, and I truly encourage our members to attend.

As we approach key industry events like the CESA Indaba 2026 and the annual Golf Day, we encourage all members to participate actively, contributing to the dialogue that shapes our sector’s future and enjoying the networking opportunities these events provide.
