In 2021, we introduced the requirement for member firms to complete the enhanced Management System Declarations (MSDs) online. To support members, we hosted webinars in 2021 and again in 2023 to explain the requirements and guide firms through the online process.

While many firms successfully submitted their first online declarations, we noted that some either did not start the declarations, or some began but failed to complete and submit them. 

In 2024, we launched an initiative to help member firms complete the declarations by organising an in-person, half-day workshop. Four member firms attended: KMSD Engineering Consultants, Theshani Trading Enterprises, Kgarebana Civil and Structural Engineers, and TKQ Consulting.

Following on from the workshop, three of the four firms opted to undertake a full MSD review of their management systems. These reviews resulted in a marked improvement – all participating firms reached 100% score in each of their declarations, indicating fully developed management systems in quality, integrity, and project sustainability.

Building on this success, we hosted an online workshop in 2025. The response was overwhelming, with 106 registrations. The feedback after the event indicated that attendees found an enormous amount of value during the workshop which assisted them in improving their existing management systems as well as completing their MSD declarations.

We encourage all member firms interested in strengthening their management systems to request a review from us at CESA. Reviews are conducted by professional engineers serving on our Quality, Risk and Sustainability Committee. For 2025, 10 reviews are available at no additional cost on a first-come, first-served basis. Each review takes approximately four hours and concludes with a detailed report containing practical guidance to further develop your management system.
