The official launch of the 2026 CESA Business of Consulting Engineering Management Development Programme (BCE MDP) took place on 17 February 2026.  The BCE MDP is a one‑of‑a‑kind programme empowering consulting engineering practitioners to lead with impact and drive technical excellence across South Africa. 

This year’s programme reached full capacity, with 30 of the industry’s best taking part! Some candidates joined us in person at the CESA offices, while others attended from satellite venues in Umhlanga, KZN and Cape Town.  In addition, several students, Workplace Mentors and Facilitators participated online.  

This year’s group includes civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers and other built environment professionals, as well as representatives from government and a local municipality. We are excited to drive technical excellence in local government through their participation. 

Our convenors, Diane Liebenberg, Billy Galal, Craig Clarke and Brenda Lacey-Smith eased the candidates into the first day of the programme, outlining expectations for the rest of the 10-month programme.
