
CESA online dialogues held
We hosted successful online dialogues featuring industry experts discussing different topics aimed at empowering consulting engineering professionals. The CESA Technology and Engineering Innovation Forum – Digitilisation Webinar took place on 25 July and included a speaker line-up consisting of Thato Oloo, project engineer at PSW Consulting Engineers; Keith Katyora, transmission grid and & energy advisor at Deloitte US; and Steve Rose, director advisory group: industry, energy, asset management South Africa at Royal HaskoningDHV. Facilitated by CESA TEIF chairperson and director of Maninga Engineering, Sikhulile Nhassengo, the primary objective of the webinar was to discuss the transformative role of technology and engineering innovation in the construction sector and in local infrastructure development. Presenters highlighted how efficient and sustainable infrastructure becomes increasingly critical as our cities and communities develop and evolve. The full webinar recording can be accessed here.
The CESA Limpopo and North West Presidential Function was hosted online on 10 August. The event featured two guest speakers representing their organisations. The first speaker was Dr Cornelius Ruiters, chief executive officer of Lepelle Northern Water, and he was also joined by Sifiso Diko, the North West Department of Public Words and Roads chief director for buildings infrastructure. The event was officially kicked off by Keamogetswe Mmekwa, senior consultant for asset management at ZUTARI, with CESA Limpopo Branch Chairperson, Livhu Motabatsindi providing the welcome remarks. The Gender Mainstreaming Webinar was hosted on 24 August and featured yet another powerful speaker line-up. This event was hosted by the CESA Transformation and Development Committee, with Jabulile Msiza, committee chair, as the facilitator. Our line-up of speakers featured Sekadi Phayane, Karin Jansen Van Rensburg, Mosimanekago Mokae, Mareli Botha, Darren Pillay, and Herman Cronje. Another installment in the CESA Practice Notes Webinar Series was held on 13 September. The topic of the online event was ‘Best Practice – Risk Management for Consulting Engineers’, and featured distinguished speakers discussing the documents compiled by experienced consulting engineering practitioners with the purpose of explaining the concept of Sustainable Development and the role of the Consulting Engineer in finding a balance between economic, social and environmental demands of a project.
