The CESA Young Professionals Forum (YPF) consists of young professionals who are passionate about the engineering industry and are interested in ensuring the sustainability and promotion of the profession. Events have been hosted by different branches, with participants including young professionals from CESA member companies and clients.
CESA YPF KZN Indoor Soccer Tournament 2023
A big thank you is extended to the 17 organisations that participated in the CESA YPF KZN 2023 Soccer Tournament, held at the Cornubia Soccer Courts in Umhlanga, on Friday, 2nd June. It was a really exciting evening filled with fun and great team support. Even though the competition was intense at times, we’re extremely proud that all of the teams demonstrated great sportsmanship to ensure that the event was a great success.

CESA YPF Gauteng South Leadership Talk 2023
The CESA YPF Gauteng South Leadership Talk was held at the Knight Piésold offices, in Sandton, and featured speakers Dr Vishal Haripersad, the regional manager of Knight Piésold Southern Africa; and Keatlaretswe van der Merwe, managing director of Kgarebana Civil & Structural Engineers. The two distinguished industry leaders offered invaluable insights into their remarkable ascent to the apex of their field. This event was a must-attend for anyone who aspires to be a successful leader in their field. Our guest speakers shared their key to success as business leaders, who have achieved the zenith in their field through their assiduity, unwavering pursuit of excellence, and resolute devotion.
This event was designed to be interactive, offering attendees the chance to gain insight from the knowledgeable guest speakers and inquire about their leadership pursuits. Attendees gained valuable perspectives and tactics to flourish in both their personal leadership path and professional advancement.




CESA YPF Free State Meet & Greet
The CESA Young Professionals Forum’s Free State Meet & Greet Evening was hosted on Wednesday, 7th June at the Central University of Technology. The evening commenced with a series of engaging games that allowed young professionals from various engineering disciplines to connect and have fun. It was heartening to witness the active participation and formation of new friendships within the engineering community. The energy in the room was contagious.
The YPF eagerly anticipates its next gathering, where it hopes to see a packed house with young professionals from mechanical, electrical, civils, IT, and the built environment disciplines in attendance. Together, we can create a dynamic environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and growth across all fields of engineering.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who played a role in making this event a success, including our organising committee, volunteers, and sponsors. As we move forward, we will continue to strive for a broader reach, actively engaging young professionals from all disciplines and promoting the multitude of opportunities available in the engineering industry. By joining forces, we can pave the way for a brighter future, fuelled by cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.

CESA YPF Gauteng North Technology and Innovation Dialogue 2023
The enlightening Technology and Innovation Discussion for Engineers took place at the Bigen Group head office, on Thursday, 6 June. It aimed to inspire and motivate professionals in the field of engineering to explore cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices, and energy solutions.
Bigen Group’s Christian de Charmoy provided a diverse set of perspectives and invaluable insights on the Any-logic & GeoFEM software. SMEC civil engineer Mosa Mefane’s shared insights on “Sustainability within Engineering,” while Zutari’s Dr André Broekman delved into the “The Development and Implementation of Arduino-based Instrumentation”.
The primary objective of the Technology and Innovation Discussion was to foster a spirit of innovation, encourage the exploration of advanced technologies, and promote sustainable practices and energy solutions within the engineering community. By bringing together young professionals, practitioners, and researchers, the aim is to create a platform for sharing ideas, best practices, and success stories, ultimately motivating engineers to push the boundaries of what is possible.
