CESA YPF World Engineering Day 2024 – Celebrating Engineers and Engineering

CESA’s Young Professionals Forum (YPF) celebrated World Engineering Day with an engaging webinar highlighting engineering excellence and innovation on the 4th March 2024.  Showcasing the N1-29 Musina Ring Road project by KBK Engineers for SANRAL, the event  highlighted the transformative power of engineering. Mareli Botha, CESA Young Engineer of the Year, and Technical Director: Process Mechanical at Zutari facilitated the session, setting the scene for the webinar.

Avuyile Mayekiso, CESA YPF Border Kei Chairperson andCivil Engineering Technologist at ROMH, provided the opening remarks, emphasising the objectives of the webinar. Martin Boonstra, Director at KBK Engineers, then discussed the specifics of the N1-29 Musina Ring Road, detailing its impressive features such as two grade-separated interchanges, five bridges, and five major culverts.

The event concluded with a vibrant Q&A session and closing remarks from Mareli Botha. By showcasing how engineering literally ‘crosses rivers/freeways’ and connects communities and cities, the webinar not only celebrated achievements but also highlighted the crucial role of engineering in shaping a more sustainable and connected future.
