CESA School of Consulting Engineering joins forces with PPP Training Online

It’s necessary to emphasise that the World Bank Group (WBG) has played a pivotal role in assisting South Africa in reviewing the PPP Framework and implementing the suggested changes.

It’s necessary to emphasise that the World Bank Group (WBG) has played a pivotal role in assisting South Africa in reviewing the PPP Framework and implementing the suggested changes.

The WBG developed the Certified PPP Professional Program (CP3P) and appointed APMG International as the accreditation and examination agent. The WBG strives to achieve a common language and knowledge to improve the performance of PPPs by enhancing and standardising practices worldwide. PPP Training Online (PPPTO) is Africa’s go-to Accredited Training Organisation.

It is important to note that a PPP Unit’s regulatory function significantly assists in minimising fraud. The new South African PPP Framework will help speed up the project preparation process, but we all know that mega infrastructure projects are not delivered in a short period. Procurement using a traditional procurement or PPP model will take time, especially while gathering historical data to estimate the project life cycle – and significant risk costs.

Preparing a proper risk matrix involves identifying and prioritising risks and estimating the probability that risks may materialise. Attaching a monetary value, allocating risks to the private sector, determining mitigation options, and including these outcomes in a draft PPP contract takes time.

International and African countries use PPPs as an alternative procurement and financial structuring model to increase economic growth. The time has come for South Africa to re-establish itself as a significant African economy and a leader in developing innovative and productive PPP transactions.

Practitioners in the PPP sphere can “be recognised internationally as a certified PPP Professional,” enhancing their careers by developing the required skills.
