Young Professional Leadership Seminar and Branch Function in the North West

On 29 October, we hosted our North West Branch Function and Young Professional Leadership Seminar at the Protea Hotel Mahikeng. The Young Professional Leadership Seminar, themed “ECSA Road to Professional Registration,” was facilitated by Godfrey Ramalisa, our Manager: Stakeholder Liaison, Branches & YPF. It included presentations from Nondumiso Thusi, Project Coordinator at the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), Mbulelo Hlalukana (PMP)®, (PD)SA from ECSA, and Mpho Molete, Chief Construction Project Manager at the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. Together, they addressed the complexities of professional registration and the ethical considerations outlined in the ECSA code of conduct.
Our Branch Function session, facilitated by our CEO, Chris Campbell, featured presentations from CESA and guest speakers from key organisations.
CESA North West Branch Chairperson Booi Dandashe opened with a welcome address, acknowledging the region’s pressing challenges, from infrastructure deficits to sustainable development needs. He emphasised that addressing these issues requires a collective approach, with each member firm and attendee playing a crucial role in developing practical solutions.
Our President, David Leukes, highlighted the need for diverse and collaborative leadership to secure a sustainable future, calling for urgent action to address infrastructure shortcomings. He urged stakeholders to reflect on past challenges and explore new ways to harness the province’s rich mineral wealth for sustainable development. He also emphasised: “We seek to work with contractors who meet the rigorous standards essential for successful project execution.”
Our guest speaker, Lereko Leeu, Director of Infrastructure Management at the North West Provincial Treasury, discussed “Consulting Engineers: Partners in Infrastructure and Economic Growth.” The session concluded with the Q&A session moderated by our CEO, Christopher Campbell. He also provided insightful feedback on national infrastructure issues and solutions.
A big thank you to all our speakers, participants, partners, and media for attending the event. Let’s continue working together towards a sustainable future!
