We were excited to host two insightful webinars in celebration of #WorldEngineeringDay this month, highlighting innovation and excellence in engineering!
Our first webinar unpacked the Zandvliet Wastewater Treatment Works upgrade, aimed at addressing severe capacity constraints that had caused pollution and degradation of the Kuils-Eerste River estuary. The project’s primary goal was to expand treatment capacity, lift the moratorium, and ensure safe sanitation for households and businesses. A multi-disciplinary team managed eight parallel contracts across five sites while keeping the existing facility operational. The session was led by Marizel Pienaar, CESA YPF National Vice Chairperson and Civil Engineer in the Water Sector at Bigen, with guest speaker Mpho Ramphao, Managing Director of the Water Business Unit at Zutari.
In our second webinar, we celebrated the award-winning Southern Corridor Phase 1 – Farm 694 Kosovo Housing Development, led by Mpamot & WSP JV for the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure. Our guest speakers included Malani Padayachee-Saman, CEO of MPAMOT Africa, Eberhard von Saint Ange, Regional Manager: Western Cape MPAMOT Africa; and Du Toit Carstens, Technical Director at WSP, Transport and Infrastructure. The session was facilitated by Kgothatso Tshikane, a Civil Engineer at GLS Consulting.
Both webinars provided valuable insights into groundbreaking projects shaping the future of engineering!
