Public Works and Infrastructure Summit
Our CEO, Christopher Campbell, and Godfrey Ramalisa, Manager: Stakeholder Liaison, Branches & YPF, attended the second Public Works and Infrastructure Summit, on the 3rd of July, hosted by the Council for the Built Environment in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
Held under the theme “From Collapse to Confidence – Strengthening Public and Building Safety, Asset Management and Infrastructure Delivery,” the Summit brought together stakeholders from across the built environment to engage on the challenges and opportunities shaping public infrastructure and building safety in South Africa.
One of the key highlights was Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson’s launch of the National Built Environment and Construction Safety Framework, which aims to strengthen building safety, improve accountability and help prevent future building collapses across South Africa.
Campbell also contributed to the programme, where he spoke on the importance of lifecycle management in infrastructure delivery. Thulasizwe Thomo, MEC for the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, reflected on his engagement with us at our recent Mpumalanga Branch Function, while Eng. Malani Padayachee-Saman, Founder and CEO of MPAMOT Africa, also shared valuable insights.
The Summit provided an important platform for us to engage with government and industry stakeholders on strengthening infrastructure delivery, improving safety and building greater confidence across the built environment.
