FIDIC Users' Guide 3rd Edition

A practical guide to the Red, Yellow, MDB Harmonised and Subcontract Books

For the first time worldwide, Brian Barr and Leo Grutters, the authors of the FIDIC Users´ Guide 3rd Edition, will be personally lecturing at these workshops. Both authors are members of the FIDIC's President's List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators, bring over 40 years´ in-depth FIDIC experience, as well as conducting training courses on how to use FIDIC in various contexts. The 3rd Edition Guide is a comprehensive update of the well-known standard reference work of Brian Totterdill, taking into account newly published forms of contract, case studies and FIDIC´s expansion into a more international arena

Many books describing the FIDIC rainbow Suite of Contracts discuss the contents in general terms, without addressing the contentious issues. Others discuss various legal opinions and deliberate on solutions to contractual problems which have occurred or may occur on a construction site. They provide advice on actions to be taken in the event of a developed dispute between the parties.

The FIDIC Users’ Guide takes a different approach. It addresses the contentious issues with relevant conclusions and advice. It is aimed at preventing disputes from occurring and concentrates on ‘dispute avoidance’ rather than ‘dispute resolution’.

It provides clear advice to practitioners on how to mitigate and avoid contractual problems. The latest editions of the FIDIC books have been taken account of and enhanced by helpful practical examples from the authors’ wealth of experience. In an understandable and clear way, the new edition gives deeper insights into the complex contract structures and thus enables both lawyers and non-lawyers to deal confidently with the old and new forms of contract.
