
A successful start to the Business of Consulting Engineering Management Development Programme (BCE-MDP) – Turns Good Engineers into Excellent Engineers
The Business of Consulting Engineering Management Development Programme (BCE-MDP) officially launched its 2023 programme on Tuesday, 28 February.
Future leaders who enrolled in the programme were invited to attend the first day of the programme as a hybrid event, where some of the students attended in-person at the CESA Training Venue, in Johannesburg, as well as in Cape Town, with other attendees joining in online.
The introduction and welcome was provided by CESA CEO, Chris Campbell, who highlighted the benefits of participating in the BCE-MDP, and encouraged the students to work hard and apply their learnings for their own professional growth and for the benefit of the organisations they represented.
Providing the programme overview was convenor Craig Clarke. The students were given the opportunity to introduce themselves. Also, in attendance, was some of the student’s workplace mentors, and other convenors who showcased their experience in the industry and encouraged the students to do their best.
The programme focuses on developing non-technical skills, from project inception to project completion, essential for a career in consulting engineering, and that which is not part of normal tertiary engineering education. This includes:
- Project Delivery
- Consulting Engineering Environment, including inter-personal skills
- Business and Project Finance
- Legal and Contractual Matters
