Sustainability Imbizo - 2026

The YP Imbizo provides a unique and dynamic platform for built environment and engineering young professionals (YPs) in the public and private sectors to discuss pertinent issues relating to all aspects of delivery and maintenance of infrastructure and engineering projects.

It also seeks to establish and maintain structures for YPs to become role-models for school learners as well as providing coaching and mentoring opportunities for YPs from senior infrastructure professionals.

YP Imbizo Objectives

The conference offers several benefits to Young Professionals through the following objectives:

  • Empower Young Professionals with best leadership-experience embracing objectivity, community participation/activisms, professionalism, and promotion of engineering principles.
  • Establish and maintain organisational structures for YPs to act as role models for school learners and for senior infrastructure/engineering to mentor YPs.
  • Provide solutions to skills development and retention by public sector and private sector. Without engineering skills there will be no provision for water, housing, and road services but absolute poverty, inequality and unemployment will prevail.

Call for Abstracts or Topics – 14th CESA Young Professionals Sustainability Imbizo

The 2026 YP Imbizo Local Organising Committee (LOC) is excited to invite you to the 14th CESA Young Professionals Sustainability Imbizo, taking place 19–20 August 2026 at Premier Hotel Midrand.

Building on the insights from previous YP Imbizos, the bold advocacy of Young Professionals, and CESA’s continued call for sustainable, accountable, and technically sound infrastructure delivery, this year’s Imbizo places engineers and built environment young professionals at the heart of South Africa’s infrastructure renewal.

We invite Young Professionals from both the public and private sectors to submit a one-page abstract or propose a discussion topic that contributes to real, actionable solutions for the sector and the country.

Call for Topics:

We invite submissions on the following topics and sub-topics (but not limited to)
